Leyland Cypress also known as Cupressus leylandii is the fastest growing plant commonly found in Irish landscapes and one of the fastest growing plants in the world.

Very commonly found in the form of a hedge in small suburban gardens if it is not sheared regularly it can cause major problems. Left to grow naturally it can attain a height of 100 feet with a crown spread of at least 40 feet.

In addition, height reduction of a leylandii promotes a more vigorous and dense tree.  Cupressus leylandii block out all light and remove all moisture from the ground causing massive problems. They can often be seen filling entire gardens and causing havoc with neighbouring properties.
